Stocks fall but stays above 3,000

Shanghai stocks retreated slightly yesterday from an earlier rally but remained above the 3,000-point level.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.18 percent to 3,017.04 points. The smaller Shenzhen Component Index shed 0.11 percent to 10,294.66 points, while the blue-chip CSI300 index closed 0.22 percent lower at 4,032.78.
Turnover on the two major bourses added up to 668 billion yuan (US$95.48 billion), compared with the previous session’s 751.6 billion yuan.
Overseas capital continued to flow into the A-share markets via Stock Connect schemes linking the mainland and Hong Kong, posting net inflow reaching 4.48 billion yuan by close yesterday, according to data from Wind Information.
Ovctek China fell 5.35 percent while Joinn Laboratories and Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products lost over 4 percent.
